Bruff and Newcastle West to contest first senior camogie final

Bruff have secured a place in the Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel Limerick Senior Camogie Championship Final after a 2‑12 to 1‑11 home victory over Monaleen.

The Stars’ goals were scored by Mary O’Callaghan (1‑1) and Lorraine McCarthy, while Aoibhinn O’Connor contributed nine points.

In the other semi‑final, three‑in‑a‑row hopefuls Newcastle West defeated Adare 3‑17 to 1‑8, with goals from Hazel Horgan (1‑3), Grace Kelly and Èabha Collins and eight points from Rebecca Delee.

The decider on Sunday will be the first historic clash between Bruff and Newcastle West in the competition’s history. The Shield Final will feature Patrickswell against Killeedy.

In the Connacht Intermediate Championship, Na Piarsaigh and Templeglantine progressed after semi‑final wins over Mungret St Paul’s and Blackrock/Effin, the latter decided by a ‘45 shoot‑out with scores from Steph Woulfe and Stacey Flynn.

Dave Deady of Bruree has been reappointed manager of the Limerick senior and U23 camogie panels for another term, with the county board praising the progress made under his leadership. His backroom team of Alan Kelly, John Chawke, Paul Hogan, Darragh Murphy, Dave O’Shea, Caitrin De Bhal, Dr Cathal O’Donnell, Stephen Corridon and Mary Kennedy remains in place.

In ladies senior football, the semi‑finals are scheduled for Sunday at 1.30 pm: Monagea (holders) v St Ailbe’s in Ballybrown and Ballylanders v Mungret St Paul’s in Hospital. The intermediate semi‑finals at 3.30 pm feature Knockainey v Oola (Kilteely) and Adare v Galtee Gaels (Staker Wallace).
