Republican officials in Alaska have demanded an investigation into claims that Democrat Mary Peltola’s campaign recruited a second candidate named Dan Sullivan to confuse voters in the state’s Senate contest.

The allegation, first raised by former President Donald Trump and other Republican figures, asserts that the Peltola campaign deliberately entered a candidate with the same name as the incumbent Republican Senator Dan Sullivan to split the vote.

Republican leaders say the tactic, if proven, would constitute ballot‑stacking and undermine the integrity of the November mid‑term election. They have called on state authorities to examine the candidate filings and any coordination by the Peltola campaign.

Mary Peltola, who won a special election to fill the seat earlier this year, has not commented on the accusations. The matter is now expected to be referred to the Alaska Attorney General’s office for further review.
