Trump says talks with Iran may resume after rejecting Hormuz proposal
President Donald Trump told Axios he expects diplomatic talks with Iran to restart a day after rejecting Tehran’s offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump, who is in Washington, will begin the day with closed‑door meetings before addressing reporters at 2 p.m. ET, when he is slated to make an announcement.
The comments come days after the White House hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping and after a private dinner on Sunday with Dario Amodei, CEO of the AI firm Anthropic. Amodei was unable to attend the state dinner that welcomed Xi, which was also attended by AI leaders such as Sam Altman and Elon Musk.
