AboutFACE Theatre to stage rehearsed reading of Ashes to Ashes to Water in Tallaght

The Civic Theatre in Tallaght will host a rehearsed reading of Ashes to Ashes to Water on Wednesday, 4 November, as part of its NEWvember 2026 programme.

The new work, written by playwright Clodagh Healy and presented by AboutFACE Theatre, explores grief, family relationships and the link to water after a family tragedy. The story follows siblings Aoife and Michael as they dispute what to do with their mother’s ashes following her drowning; Michael wants to return her to the sea, while Aoife objects.

The reading will feature Carolyn Donnelly, Thabile Michelle Hlongwane, Kevin Oliver Lynch, Maureen Rabbitt and Laoisa Sexton, and was conceptualised by Friederike Karpf, Zia Basbaum and Clodagh Healy.

After the performance, audiences can take part in a Q&A with Healy to discuss the piece’s themes. Admission is free but booking is essential; seating is unallocated and latecomers will not be admitted. The production contains references to murder and suicide.
