Two new bus shelters will be provided for Mungret Community College after the first shelter was installed on the wrong side of the road.
Fine Gael councillor Daniel Butler highlighted the error on social media, noting the shelter had landed on the outbound side rather than the inbound side. He said the confusion was quickly addressed and a practical solution was pursued.
Butler, who chairs the college’s Board of Management, confirmed that a second shelter will be built to serve the school and that he will continue to follow up on the remaining details.
He also said Bus Éireann will be asked to allow the final outbound stop to operate as both a pick‑up and drop‑off point, and that private coach operators will be able to use both stops.
While welcoming the shelter commitment, Butler stressed that transport improvements are ongoing. He is awaiting a review by the National Transport Authority of the morning bus schedule, citing concerns that current timings may not get pupils to school on time.
