University Hospital Limerick has appointed Dr Hammad Danish as a Consultant Respiratory Physician. Dr Danish will bring specialist…

Charlotte Phelan of Limerick will run the Irish Life Dublin Marathon on Sunday, 25 October, in honour of her late grandfather, Cormac Liddy.
The marathon marks the first anniversary of Cormac Liddy’s death; he died in October 2025. A native of Ballinacurra, he served as sports editor of the Limerick Leader for 21 years before retiring in 2002 and later working freelance for RTÉ.
For Phelan, the race is her fourth marathon and second Dublin Marathon, and she is using it to raise funds for the Irish Kidney Association (IKA), reflecting her grandfather’s experience of dialysis treatment in both Limerick and Galway.
Cormac began haemodialysis three times a week at University Hospital Limerick in 2020 under Prof. Austin Stack, later continuing treatment at Merlin Park University Hospital in Galway under Prof. Donal Reddan after moving to Kinvara.
Phelan said she will run “with Pops in my heart”, aiming to honour his memory and support others with kidney disease.
Donations can be made via her fundraising page at eventmaster.ie/fundraising/pages/CP16536294.
