Irish Rail has announced that significant service interruptions will affect the Dart and several intercity routes over the bank‑holiday weekend.

Remedial work on the line linking Wicklow to north‑county Dublin will see the Dart closed between Grand Canal Dock and Bray, and between Howth and Howth Junction on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Passengers are advised to use alternative travel arrangements, with the TFI Leap Card valid on other services and bus transfers provided for the Dublin‑Rosslare line between Dublin and Bray.

In Limerick, engineering works to bring the Foynes Freight Line into operation require the signalling system to be shut down. Consequently, all trains to and from Limerick – including services to Limerick Junction, Ennis and Ballybrophy – will be replaced by bus transfers.

Barry Kenny of Irish Rail told Newstalk Breakfast that Storm Austen had not impacted services that morning, but commuters should still expect disruption throughout the weekend.
