Gardaí investigate discovery of adult male body in Macroom town centre

Gardaí are investigating the discovery of an adult male’s body in the centre of Macroom, Co Cork, on the morning of 23 October 2026.

The body was found at approximately 9:30 am on the grounds of Macroom Castle. Emergency services arrived shortly afterwards, and the area was sealed off, preventing a local resident from walking in the nearby park.

An Garda Síochána confirmed the scene is being preserved for forensic examination and that a post‑mortem will be arranged to aid the investigation. The force said it could not release further details at this early stage.

Local witnesses reported seeing emergency vehicles entering the castle grounds on Friday morning, but no additional information has been provided.
