Banner Ladies to face Fergus Rovers in Clare senior semi‑final

Banner Ladies will meet Fergus Rovers in the Clare Senior Ladies Football Championship semi‑final at Kilrush on Sunday at 12.30pm.

The clash follows Banner’s dominance of the competition, having secured 14 senior titles in 16 seasons, including an eight‑in‑a‑row run from 2011‑2018 and the most recent crown in 2023 under captain Clare Hehir.

Fergus Rovers, who lifted the senior title in 2000, are seeking to add a senior honour to a recent string of underage successes. The club have represented Clare at the Féile finals for six consecutive seasons, winning Division 3 in 2024 and Division 2 in 2025, and have claimed three Minor A titles and two Minor B titles in the last three years.

Rovers returned to senior level in 2023 and reached a semi‑final last season, also contesting the Division 1 league final against Kilmihil in May. They will look to improve on their 19‑point defeat to Banner in 2024, after a much closer eight‑point encounter in Ennis earlier this year.

Banner’s experienced panel, featuring Niamh O’Dea, Laurie Ryan, Louise Woods and others, collectively hold over a hundred county senior medals, underscoring the challenge Rovers face.

The winner will progress to the championship final later this weekend.
