Amethyst Care secures €100,000 pre‑seed funding for AI elder‑care assistant

Dublin‑based health‑tech start‑up Amethyst Care has received €100,000 from Enterprise Ireland’s Pre‑Seed Start Fund to develop its AI voice assistant for older people.

The tool, created in collaboration with Enterprise Ireland and Trinity College Dublin’s Adapt centre, provides medication reminders and wellness check‑ins, aiming to extend independence for seniors living at home and to reduce loneliness and isolation.

Amethyst says the assistant also enables clinicians to collect ongoing health data, helping to spot issues before a hospital admission becomes necessary. The company hopes the technology will act as a cheaper alternative to private home care and delay the need for full‑time residential care.

Enterprise Ireland’s investment includes a one‑off grant of either €50,000 or €100,000 together with ten mentoring sessions. The fund supported more than 100 start‑ups last year, totalling over €9.5 million in pre‑seed capital.

Amethyst Care, founded in 2024 and advised by Adapt co‑founder Vincent Wade, recently opened an office in Ohio, United States, as it prepares to scale its solution.
